What Is a Catalogue Number?

Categorieën: Audio, FAQ

A catalogue number is basically your vinyl’s secret identity—like Batman, but for records. At Mister Disco, we work with two types:

  1. Our Catalogue Number: We assign this one, and it’s used for our communication. Think of it as your record’s government-issued ID. No need to learn it by heart.
  2. Your Catalogue Number: This is where you get to be creative! Numbers, letters, hieroglyphics (okay, maybe not those)—whatever floats your musical boat. This one even gets engraved in the dead wax/lead-out of each side. Fancy, right?

How you build your number is entirely up to you. Want to call it “BA0001”? Great. “ROCK-GOD-666”? Sure. Just maybe don’t go for “12345”, unless you want your record to have the same security level as your password.

So, get creative, keep it snappy, and make sure it’s something you’ll remember, because once it’s etched in vinyl, it’s there for life!
